Great BBC TV programme available online at bbc.co.uk/bbcthree from 4 July 2019. Comedian Lloyd Griffith fails to double his money during a week of gambling, exposing in the process the exploitative tricks of the modern gambling industry and the consequent dangers for young people. He meets young men who have dropped out of University or become suicidal as a result of their gambling addiction.
Gambling is more and more in the news just now. The Government decision to reduce the FOBT maximum stake does seem to have been a turning point. The House of Lords has now set up its own Select Committee on the gambling industry. Public Health England has started its own study of the harm gambling may be causing. The Labour Party has announced its intention, if it came to power, to radically reform gambling regulation and work towards a new Gambling Act.
The tide is turning against the industry. Now is an ideal time to make one's feelings known.
