The Gambling Commission (GC) has announced that it is working with the Competition and Markets Authority to make sure that online gambling companies bring their promotions and offers into line with consumer protection law. This looks as if it mainly means that the conditions that apply to their offers and promotions are clear and transparent which they have not always been. But of course this doesn’t stop companies marketing their gambling products aggressively by hounding players continually with offers of various kinds. There is a lot more on this issue on the GC website. The GC is now asking everyone concerned, including players and members of the general public, to tell them what they think about online gambling ‘marketing and advertising, unfair terms, complaints and disputes’. People who are having problems with gambling and their family members are regularly posting comments on the Gambling Watch UK website complaining about these sorts of issues. So this is a chance to tell the Gambling Commission what you really think about this.
